East Pearl Seafood: Reviews & Ratings
East Pearl has been my favorite Dim Sum Restaurant for decades now. The food is consistently of high quality and the recipes and presentation techniques have been followed for as long as I've been a customer. I forget what year I first ate here but definitely it was before 2014. I recently tried another Dim Sum Restaurant and the price was over double what I paid East Pearl fir today's lunch and far inferior in taste. I had some of my go to items today: Chicken and Pork Congee Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice with Chinese Sausage and Pork Pork Shumai Shrimp Shumai (I prefer the egg wrapper to the rice wrapper) Pork Fried Rice Puff Seasame Balls with Toasted White and Black Seasame Seeds filled with Sweet Red Bean Paste Chrysanthemum Tea and Rock Sugar I ordered an extra Seasame Balls to go and also had leftovers. My bill on a credit card was just over $40 at $40.02 not including tip. I just scanned some other reviews and had forgotten there is a cash discount!! My friend wanted the budget friendly Chinese - American Weeekday Lunch Special for $9.99. She ordered Beef with Green Beans, Eggs Drop Soup and courtesy White Rice. The soup was included in the special. This special had a substantial amount if beef for the point point! She's a light eater so she also had leftovers. I don't have service problems here. Although today, no one was running around the dining area in a Red Tee Shirt which the English speaking staff tend to wear. No one came to my table to ask if I had any requests or to show me the additional menu ir full Dim Sum Menu. But I had no wait when I requested my Congee as I didn't see a Congee cart. But staffing was more than sufficient and I was able to communicate in English with everyone on staff with whom I had a conversation.
We wanted to try a place we may not usually visit for our NYE dinner, and we were blown away by East Pearl. Shrimp wonton soup-The waiter served us each a warm bowl of wontons at the table, the broth was smooth and flavorful, shrimp were cooked well, the veggies soft but yet still a bit crunchy, and the dish itself came with 8 wontons in it. Ha Gao (shrimp dumplings)- The picture on the menu didn’t quite look like the actual starter, but they were delicious nevertheless. We used a little chili oil and soy sauce with each bit, and that put them over the top. The shrimp was tender, and the dumplings overall were delicious. Short Ribs with Black Pepper- This was both my wife’s and my favorite dish of them all. The meat was perfectly cooked, the sauce was not too sweet, the veggies sautéed beautifully. Must Try General Tso’s- A familiar dish, and of all the times I’ve had it, East Pearl’s may have been the best. Not super spicy, with an Amazing crunch to the breading. The broccoli was cooked well also. If you want to stay in your comfort zone of well known Chinese dishes in the states, you can’t go wrong with this one Pork Shumai-This starter was the only item that we were a little unsure about. The texture of the pork was a bit too rubbery for us. Flavor was still great, but it’s possible that it is just an acquired texture for those who enjoy this dish. To cap off the meal they also brought out some juicy orange slices that we scarfed down, even after all of the other dishes. The sever was patient, very courteous, and attentive to our needs at the table. The restaurant had a calm, quiet, and clean environment when we were there. There was plenty of parking, and service was quick as multiple staff checked on us and assisted in the service.
Dim sum was pretty good, HK style. Food delivery service was quick but piles of dishes were not removed, and there was automatic 20% tip added to bill and fees on credit card, so don't leave additonal cash tip on table!
East Pearl Restaurant is a standout spot for authentic Cantonese cuisine and classic dim sum in Duluth. The dim sum selection is excellent, with highlights including the perfectly prepared chicken feet, comforting congee, and flavorful sugarcane shrimp. The jasmine tea is fragrant and pairs well with every dish. Service is attentive and welcoming, prices are very reasonable, and the warm, family-friendly atmosphere makes it an ideal place for both casual meals and gatherings.
Had a rare craving for some Cantonese dim sum, and this spot was packed! Mostly groups of two, but they still welcomed solo diners like me with no hesitation — love that. Here’s what I tried: Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow) – plump, juicy, thin-skinned and delicious! Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice – was told it came with chicken, but I only found a tiny bit of minced pork and sausage. Still flavorful, but missing that promised chicken. Radish Cake – would’ve been even better with some soy paste on the side! Portuguese Tart – so good! Flaky crust with a rich, creamy filling. Must-try! Cash payment gets you a discount, which is always a nice surprise.
This is an early morning tea shop that I often visit. Kung Pao chicken, shrimp dumplings and Portuguese tarts are the ones I always order. The durian pastry is a bit too sweet. I hope the owner can bring us better flavors.
Haven't been to East Pearl in a while and decided to brave the crowd on Memorial Day for their dim sum. Service was good for such a busy day and they handled it pretty well. The food was still steamy hot and tasted fresh. The Cheung Fun was overcooked a bit. It was quite busy so a lot of the dishes disappeared quickly-- we would have to wait for the next round (or even the round after that). Price is a bit higher than other places but the quality is good. Gratuity was included for a party of 6. Plenty of parking. The restaurant is bigger than it looks and has rustic decor.
tried some dimsum restaurant in Duluth, and this place is the best by far. Love all the buns, shumay, Lotus leaf sticky rice, best chicken feet. Did not disappoint at all. This is our to go place for some dimsum. Drive 1.5 hr from SC just to get this.
